Knit Night

Last night was the monthly Knit Night at The Yarn Lounge. There was quite an assortment of goodies.

Some folks brought wine

Jenny brought her espresso maker.

There were donut holes, of course.

Stewart baked ginger cookies and pumpkin-chocolate chip brownies. I did not resist.

I worked on my second pair of Trekking XXL socks. I want to knit every color way.

You can see more pictures on The Yarn Lounge's blog.

Park Play

Dogwood and I went to the Hanover Dog Park early this morning to meet up with friends. Emma & Goldie - two Scottish Deerhounds - and Rajah & Cody - two Afghan Hounds.

Zooom

Knitting socks on #8s after #0 or #1 is almost like not even knitting. These are knit with Fleece Artist Mohair and Blue Faced Leicester. They are for someone who doesn't read this blog. She keeps her house so cold she has to wear socks to bed. These should keep her feet toasty.

Hands & Feet

Made these mitts during my classes. Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted with recycled glass buttons. I still don't have my own pattern memorized. Love the orange.

Austermann Step socks are complete & my hands really are softer. I don't know if they are $7 softer which is the price difference between the Step and the Trekking XXL. I do like the color way - guess I just had an orange phase.
Thanksgiving was really nice. Good food and interesting company.

STEPping Along

I have been totally unfaithful to the Equestrian Blazer since beginning these socks. Love the way the stripes turned out and think the colorway is attractive. Wendy has a pair in another colorway on her blog. The Yarn Lounge is getting more Austermann Step & Trekking XL in different colorways. Ack! I'll never get back to the Blazer.

More Mittens

My Flip Top Mitt class ended tonight. Lauren's mitten is the green one with the sparkly button. Fran's is the blue one - oops, she forgot her buttons.

Yarn Church (& More)

Marge finished her husband's vest & modelled it for us. It is knit using Wool-ease.

Teri-Kay finished her husband's vest. It is knit using Lamb's Pride Bulky.

My friend, Alyssa, came in for help with finishing her Jo Sharpe sweater. Stewart is the Queen of Finishing & showed her the best ways to sew her seams.

I finally gave in & bought some Step sock yarn. It is impregnated with Aloe Vera & Jojoba oil. Don't know if it will last past the first wash but, in the meantime, my hands are feeling much softer than usual.

Knitting for Baby (& self)

Two more hats were finished by members of the Knitting for Baby class.

Elizabeth made this cutie. You may see it again, with additions, in two weeks.

And Debbie finished this one for her grandbaby. It may change too.

No progress photos showing the Equestrian Blazer. I am slogging away at miles of stockinette, interrupted by short rows. The back is finished and I am on the left front. It is very curly due to the stockinette and is a very dark green. Not photogenic at all. It has probably made its last appearance until finished and being worn.

Another Goal Sweater Fits!

This sweater was completed this past Spring and it was waaaay too tight. Wahoo, it fits me now. It was knit using a tencel yarn I got from Elann (didn't keep a ball band). The pattern is a Knitting Pure & Simple.

Heifer & Wendy

Some of you may have noticed the link to Heifer International in my list of Worthy Causes. Wendy over at Wendy Knits is raising money for Heifer by giving weekly prizes for donating. She has already raised nearly more than $10,000.
Please consider clicking over to her blog and donating via her link to Heifer International.

Yarn Church FOs

Kate finished her baby sweater knit with the Blue Skys cotton.

She got these bunny buttons at Couture Fabric on Libbie Avenue.

She also modelled the hat she made for her daughter from Manos del Uruguay.

I thought I was convincing Holly to buy The Knitter's Companion for herself. Instead she gave it to me! Wow, thanks, Holly!.

Friday switch

I resisted sock yarn and cast on for Kate Gilbert's Equestrian Jacket in the new Interweave Knits. I am using O-wool on #4s in the Forest Evergreen color.
Trish asked about O-wool. It is organically produced wool & O-wool is the brand name.

In the meantime, the socks had babies.

Satisfaction

Obsession satisfied. Trekking socks complete. I love this yarn and am using all my inner discipline to keep from buying another colorway and starting a new pair tomorrow. I have a few bits of Christmas knitting to do.

Julie is in my Knitting for Baby class. She made this charming acorn hat.

And I am finally able to celebrate the election now that Allen has conceded!

Obsessed

Help! I can't stop knitting. I am obsessed with seeing what color comes next.

Sunday FOs plus more

The green socks were actually finished late Saturday night.

Finished Fantine by French Girl Sunday morning. Thanks, Teri-Kay, for the last few yards of Rowan Big Wool. The button is from my collection of vintage and antique buttons.

Speaking of Teri-Kay, her needles Burst In Flames and she finished this mohair cardigan she calls a medieval hair shirt.

My FO reward was to begin my Trekking XXL socks in a K4, P1 rib.

Trekking

My motivation to finish the endless green socks. Maybe tonight. No later than tomorrow.

Oops!

While comparing socks to be sure I knit them the same length, I realized I had made the first one an inch too short. Oops! So I frogged the toe and will pick up and knit it longer when I have finished sock #2. Are you as sick of these socks as I am? I know I will be glad to have them to wear but I am tired of knitting on #0s.

So tired of #0s that I used some #6s to cast on an Irish Hiking Scarf using some Jo Sharp Silkroad DK Tweed (85% wool, 10% silk, 5% cashmere). Color Night. Sorry about the picture, I am getting used to Leslie's loaner camera.

ISE3

My ISE partner sent some amazing dog treats.

The hounds were not at all interested in the scarf and I had to leave the house to get a decent picture of it.

My scarf is a silk & cotton blend. It is just the right amount of warmth and very soft.

Barb also sent some No Pudge Brownie Mix. Just add nonfat vanilla yogurt to the mix for no fat brownies. I will have to bake them and take them to The Yarn Lounge some time.

Va Va Voom

While searching for something else yesterday I came across my Bombshell from Big Girl Knits - complete except for the sleeves. Nothing like an almost finished project to make the time to the end seem really fast.

Stewart took my picture this afternoon when I tried it on at The Yarn Lounge. It is knit from Louet Merlin (merino & linen) on #7 needles. The yarn is machine washable and can go in the dryer for the first 15 minutes. I lengthened the sleeves from the pattern to 3/4. It fits almost perfectly.

My ISE3 scarf arrived. My pal included what must be doggie heroin because I couldn't take pictures for all the grey noses. I will take a picture at TYL tonight.
